If I update to iOS 4 in iPod Touch 2G, can I restore all my music & media after the upgrade?
Question by 0010: If I update to iOS 4 in iPod Touch 2G, can I restore all my music & media after the upgrade?
I’m planning on upgrading to OS 4 but even after i have synced my files, and transferred all my purchases, the pop-up that warns me about “all my files will be lost: thing keeps on appearing! I don’t wanna lose all my media, photos and music after I upgrade to os 4. Will my files be restored even if it says that all files will be lost?
I really want to install OS 4..
I currently have an ipod touch 2nd gen running on OS 3., if that helps. Thanks!

Don’t understand that error message either that is if you have your media on your computer in itunes and on your ipod…otherwise get it all into itunes on your computer first.
Once that’s done, the iOS4 update will back up your ipod and then wipe your ipod clean during the update process, and restore the device during the process too, but once the whole thing is done it will restore everything back onto your ipod so it’s full when done.
What do you think? Answer below!

I dont think you have to worry about the content you already have on your computer, rite? can always be back..
itunes will make backup of your last sync so after it’s restored, your data will look exactly as before. exception for photo that always get the lowest priority, they’ll be removed if ur ipod doesnt have enough memory space (OS 4 memory requirement is much bigger than 3.0 by the way)
and the contents you’ve made right on your ipod (notes, calendars, or saved photos) are safe

if you update itunes will automatically restore your ipod from backup
this saved my photos
but it didnt save my music(didnt have any vids)
to save ur music i recommend downloading diskaid and using thet to save your music
here is the link on how to use it:

u also should save all your apps to itunes
to do this you can go into itunes, plug in your itouch, right click the ipod icon on the left of itunes, click transfer purchases and then your apps will be saved to itunes
once this is done you can update
and if you’ve followed these steps and saved all your music and apps u only need to find out how to save your videos
try using diskaid for that i haven’t tried it but its a thought
once u’ve updated plug in your ipod
click the ipod’s tab on itunes
go to apps and click the “sync apps” box so its checked
and go to music tab and click “sync music” box so its checked
then click apply at the bottom of itunes so all your apps and music will be put back onto your ipod
*note that all saved data on your apps will not be saved (such as game saves and things like that)
