Q&A: How do I get all my music fiIes in Windows media Player and then share them with other PCs in my home?
Question by Sugar: How do I get all my music fiIes in Windows media Player and then share them with other PCs in my home?
I need a step by step simple answer, If there is one. I have Limewire (for downloading music and such), a “iTunes” music file, a “my music” folder & Windows Media Player that all have music downloads (library) or files in them. I want to get all the libraries/music put into my “Windows Media player” so I can store and play them all from one place. Also, I would like to be able to share all this music with the other 2 (wireless)computers in my house as well if possible. Is it possible to move all the music and have all my future media/music/downloads go to,”Windows Media player”? I realize a simple answer may not be easy, but please try.
Best answer:
Answer by No Name
open window media player(latest version or upgrade to it)
press “F1″ key
hit index tab
type in “sharing”
double click and read all the topics under “sharing”
i’m not being sarcastic, it’s just very well described in the help

You can get everything but the iTunes into Media Player. iTunes songs will not play in Media Player (not the one ripped or bought via iTunes store anyway). Regular mp3′s that you have in ITunes can be put in the Media Player folder.
All you need to do is store all your music in one folder – subfolders within that are fine.
Then you enable sharing on the folder. Easy way to do that is to right-click on the folder and then select Sharing….
Follow the prompts there and set up the share.
Then you need to map that folder as a new share on the two other machines.
Based on the fact that you do not know that iTunes will not work in Media Player, this will probably be a process that is too much for you.
I am not slamming you, but just being realistic.
